birds
Our main focus in our 3 year old’s Bird Class is on God and his great love for us, learning how to treat others like Jesus showed us! We will work on our social and emotional skills using the Fruit of the Spirit as a guide.
We will be working hard on our vestibular system and proprioception by running, jumping, digging in the sand box, playing in the mud kitchen, balancing on logs and lots of other big movement activities throughout the day. These are all part of risky play that help kids problem solve and learn to control their body, setting them up for success when it’s time to learn to read and write.
We will learn responsibility by cleaning up our classroom when we are done being messy. We’ll also be working on independence by learning things like how to open our own snacks, pack our backpack, and zip our jackets.
We will also learn to love all of God’s creation; even bugs! We’ll get to watch caterpillars grow and transform into butterflies. We have a class pet jumping spider named Charlotte! There will also be lots of opportunities to get messy, but everyone will be able to decide on their own just how messy they want to get. We will be playing in the rain, muddy puddles, at water tables, and in the mud kitchen. We’ll be working on our listening skills by observing nature’s sounds and how they change throughout the seasons.
We will explore letters by learning to recognize our name, what the first letter of our name sounds like and building them with found objects like sticks and rocks.
The Bird’s Class is often teased for being the messiest class so get ready for some messy exploring of God’s creation!
